Hot Pot Belly!

先週の土曜日になべ食べ放題しました。アールネーションズで会った二人女性と他の友達と食べに行きました。中国人だからいいなべのレストランをおすすめしてくれました。
Last Saturday I went to an all-you-can-eat hot pot restaurant with two girls from All Nations and my friend Matt. Because they are Chinese Chinese, they brought me and Matt to their recommended hot pot place.

たっくさん食べ物を注文しました。肉（牛、鳥、羊）、海の幸（魚、コンブ）、めん、野菜（キャベツ、かぼちゃ、もやし）、その他（とうふ、魚・牛ボール、キノコ）全部食べました。
We ordered a TON of food. A rough sampling of the things we ate: meat (beef, chicken, lamb), seafood (fish, seaweed), noodles, veggies (cabbage, pumpkin, pea sprouts), and many more (tofu, meat/fish balls, mushrooms).

後で少し休んだが。。すぐにデザートを食べに行きました。
Even though our stomachs were bursting (or at least mine was), afterward we went out to eat dessert.

ワァ～～もっと食べられますか？

安くておいしかったかき氷食べました。一つずつトッピング五つ選べました。一つは小豆、ココナッツゼリー、杏仁豆腐、もち、練乳でした。他のは桃、ココナッツゼリー、タロイモのもち、プリン、練乳でした。上の茶色ソースは黒みつでした。
Matt took us to a fairly cheap place for some good shaved ice. For each on, we got to choose five(!) toppings. Our first had red beans, coconut jelly, almond tofu, mochi, and condensed milk. The second had peaches, coconut jelly, taro mochi, flan, and condensed milk. The brown sauce on top was a brown sugar syrup - super delicious!

最終に隣のお店に入りました。あ～久しぶりUFOキャッチャーがありました！日本としてちょっと違ったけどうれしかった。
Lastly, we went into an Asian looking shop to look around. And..... ba bum! There were UFO catchers! There were a bit different from the ones in Japan, but still, I was excited.

1 try = fail. :(

その日昼ごはんだけ食べました～～　でもいっぱい食べておいしかったから大丈夫ですね。
That day I only ate lunch, but because it was a meal x3 it works out, yeah?

さんしょうはいないよ～

今日食べすぎました。とてもよかったよ。（明日ブログで書くつもりです）でも朝はちょっと。。。
Today I ate too much. I was very pleased. (I'll try to write about it tomorrow.) However, this morning....

午前１０時ごろ、クラスの準備のために友達と図書館に山椒大夫（さんしょうだゆう）という映画を見に行きました。でも、図書館の受付係は映画を見つけられませんでした。「どこにあるのかな」と「ほかのクラスメートは借りたかもしれない」と思っていました。だけど、実は、クラスの先生が借りました！え。。？
Around 10 in the morning, my friend and I went to Leavey Library to watch the movie, "Sansho the Bailiff," for class. However, when we got there the receptionist could not find the movie. "Where could it have gone?" "Maybe another classmate borrowed it," we thought. Actually, it turns out our professor had checked it out. What the...??

忙しかった週末

金曜日はすごく忙しかったが楽しかったです。
This past Friday was super busy, but tons of fun.

まずは１時から５時までクラスがありました。EDCOのクラスだから３回しかクラスが合うことが残らないからちょっと悲しいです。
First off, I had class from 1 to 5. It's EDCO (peer counseling class prerequisite to become an RA) so sadly we only have 3 classes left. :(

後でアールネーションズという外国人の聖書研究グループの旧正月ポットラックに行きました。今学期に私の初めてアールネーションズのイベントだから新しい友達に会いました。
After I went to the All Nations' (InterVarsity's international student Bible study group) Chinese/Lunar New Year potluck. It was my first time at an All Nations event this semester so I got to meet a lot of new friends.

食べ物いっぱいありました！

今週の週末に会った二人中国人女性と中国語を勉強している友達と中国料理を食事する予定です。楽しみにしています！
This weekend I'm going with two Chinese girls I met and a friend who's learning Mandarin to eat Chinese food. It's going to be yummy...

後で小林さんの誕生日だからクラブでダンスしました！夜遅くまでダンスしたから土曜日に午後１時まで寝ました。
After all of that was Jillian's birthday night at a club. We danced until late so I slept in until 1pm on Saturday.

土曜日はもう一つポットラックがありました。今度はインターバーシティの四年生の晩御飯でした。私冷凍ラザニアを持っていきました。
Saturday was another potluck, this time for the InterVarsity seniors. I "made" lasagna... from the freezer section. :D

ブラウニーが好きだから。。。昨日の晩ブラウニーを作りました。 上にカラメルがあってウォールナットがあります。
Last night I made brownies... because I like them. On top is a caramel sauce and inside are walnut pieces.

Bahaha.. 牛乳と一緒においしいよ

今晩アルバイトで食べます！

I'm going to eat some at work. :D

クッキー？

今洗濯しているが残念なことがありました。
I'm doing my laundry right now, but there was a little "incident" earlier.

昨日デングさんがディディリースからクッキーを買ってくれました。今日アルバイトでチョコレートと白いチョコチップのクッキーを半分食べて残ったのは後で食べる予定でした。
Yesterday EDeng brought me back cookies from Diddy Riese. Today I ate half of a chocolate with white chocolate chip cookie at work and was planning on saving the rest for later.

でもクッキーがジャケットのポケットに入れて忘れてしまいました。そのジャケットを洗濯機に入れて洗濯しました。それからドライヤーに服を移ったら洗濯機の中で小さい白いものに気付きました。「あら、これは何？」と考えてもっと近くに見ていきました。
However, I put the cookie in my jacket pocket, forgot about it, and proceeded to wash the jacket. When I was moving my clothes over to the dryer, I noticed these small white pieces inside the washer. What the heck.. I look a little closer...

クッキーの白いチョコチップと包んだティシューでした～～　でもクッキーのクッキー（入れたものじゃない）はどこに行ったかな？　
Here are the white chocolate chips from the cookie and the tissue it was wrapped in. However, the cookie part of the cookie was no where to be found. 

服はチョコレートの香りを持つようになるかもしれませんね。
Maybe my clothes will smell like chocolate.

つまらないクラスの問題

今学期アジア文学のクラスを取っています。教える先生によって内容が違って今度は日本作者と映画を見て勉強します。でもそのクラスはまったくつまらない。先生が選んだ本と映画は面白いですが（例えば黒澤の羅生門、鴎外の雁）先生に無駄なポイントを三時間で聞かせられます。
This semester I'm taking an Asian literature course. The content changes based on the professor, and our class is looking at Japanese literary authors and movies. However, the class is extremely boring and a waste of time. The books and movies the professor has selected look very interesting (such as Kurosawa's "Rashomon" and Ogai's "The Wild Geese") but the professor always drones on for three hours about useless information.

My strategy for staying awake.... A frog representation of my brain and a Joker fish.

たいてい学生が少し自分の意見をクラスの前に言えるのに話し合いをまだしていません。クラスのみんあさんはすばらしい意見と質問があるからスモールグループかペアで話した方がいいと思います。でも現実にそれがない。幸いテストがないから先生の話を覚えなくても大丈夫だけどクラスで頭を使わなくて眠くなります。
Usually students get to share their opinion about a piece but it is in front of the whole class and not an interactive discussion. I think small group or pair discussions would be great for this class because everyone has interesting points of view and provoking questions. But it's not happening. At least there are not tests so I don't have to retain anything, but it's a class where I always get sleepy because of the lack of brain stimulation.

今日から日曜日まで相談のクラスで修学旅行です。楽しみにしています！
This weekend is the EDCO (peer counseling class) retreat. I'm looking forward to it!

Superior!!

スペリアーというスーパーの野菜値段はすごい。今日お好み焼きを作るためにキャベツとたまねぎを買って一ドル以下でした。
Superior (Market) produce prices are amazing. Today I picked up a cabbage and onion for okonomiyaki making. It was all under a dollar.

たまねぎ一個は二十セントでキャベツ一個は二十七セントで全部は四十七セントでした。安いですね。
